The New Castle town board is considering changing it’s official name to the Town of Chappaqua. Part of the reason for the potential change is because of branding. Chappaqua, a hamlet of New Castle, is a much more well known name. New Castle is also often confused with North Castle. New Castle, once a part of North Castle, was split off by the New York state legislature and formed in 1791. The propossed name change is still open for discussion.
